Look at the difference in this gel coat finish after some polishing work.

Most motorhomes and boats have a gel coat finish which is different than the clear coat you would find on your car.

If not properly washed and waxed the finish will start to look faded and worn out. After a while you will start to develop oxidation and a chalky feel which can only be removed by mechanical abrasion i.e. polishing.
